It is currently the
only scientific journal of wide spectrum in Earth’s sciences in Russia.
Yearly, the twelve issues of the journal feature more than 100 original
theoretical and methodological papers and reviews in all fields of geology
and geophysics, including those specially addressed to geological problems
of Siberia and Asia as a whole.
The main sections of coverage are:
Stratigraphy, paleontology and regional geology
Mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry,
mineral resources and metallogeny
Oil and gas geology
Geotectonics and geomorphology
Global and prospecting geophysics
Experimental modeling of natural processes
Systematically
special issues are devoted to specific topics and include articles from
non-Russian sources. Some special issues have been devoted to continuing
Baikal drilling project; petrology; seismic and geodynamic processes;
evolution of the Paleoasian ocean; petroleum geology; tectonics of
continental rifts and evolution of sedimentary basins; kimberlites, diamond
deposits and petrology of the upper mantle. These topics are also planned to
be covered in the future.
In 2004, two special issues (#1 and #7) dealing with problems of petroleum
geology and geochemistry are planned to be published. Emphasis will be
placed on problems of geology and methodology of search for oil and gas
deposits in West and East Siberia. Many geologic objects in Siberian
petroliferous basins are first characterized in detail. Pioneering papers
will discuss the distribution of biomarker hydrocarbons in the organic
matter of ground waters.
Journal is covered by Current Contents and SCIE.
